From January 2025 to August of this year, there were over 604 documented attacks on federal science, disrupting public health research and weakening protections people rely on every day. The Scientific Integrity Act, S. 4545 in the Senate and H.R. 1106 in the House, would protect federal scientists from political interference and retaliation, and would require agencies to keep research and data free from censorship or manipulation.
Our speaker is spearheading support for the Scientific Integrity Act. Joseph Reed is policy director for the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists. An experienced government affairs professional with nearly 20 years of diverse experience across the private, public, and civic sectors, Reed has managed federal, state, and local issue campaigns.
