SPREAD THE JOY AND POWER OF ACTIVISM: TRAINING FOR LOBBY DAY

Tuesday July 14, 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT

Take Action

When people take action together, we can elevate climate action on the public agenda and build cohesion, community, and strength for the cause. One powerful way to elevate climate action at the federal level is to meet with our Congressional representatives and lobby them to enact pro-climate legislation. Join us on July 14, 2026 as we provide you and others with inspiration and training for our pre-Tisha B’Av Senate Lobby Day on July 21, 2026. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to learn how we can voice so many of our Jewish values by letting our senators know climate action is essential to caring for our planet.

Background

Climate change is a moral challenge that demands an urgent response. That is why twice a year, before Tisha B’Av and Tu Bishvat, we raise our collective voices and lobby for legislation with climate solutions. We do this by scheduling virtual half-hour meetings with senators across the country. This year we will lobby our senators on three topics: to strengthen weather research and forecasting, protect our national forests from development, and oppose providing legal immunity to fossil fuel companies from lawsuits for the damages caused by their emissions. In the training, you will meet with others from your state in breakout rooms, where leaders for each state will walk everyone through the process of the meeting with the senate staffers. There are opportunities to take on a role in the meeting, and we encourage you to do so!

Why Now?

Currently lined up in the Senate are proposed climate laws that need our voice: supporting a law to improve weather research and forecasting (S.3923), opposing one that attempts to protect fossil fuel companies from climate lawsuits (S.4340), and supporting a bill that would prevent the Trump administration from opening up millions of acres of national forests for more logging (S.2042).

Jewish Perspectives

We know that climate advocacy and lobbying have made a difference. Progress has not always been linear, and there have been setbacks, but collective action has shaped policies, advanced clean energy, and strengthened public awareness. That history makes our responsibility even clearer. The obligation to pursue justice and protect life does not diminish when the path is difficult; it becomes all the more urgent to encourage others to join us in protecting life and pursuing justice.
